Foreman M. Lebold Collection
Scope and Contents
Four of the booklets date before the Civil War. Of the earliest, 1836, one is predominantly hymnals and religious songs, while the other is popular songs. The Ones from 1846 and 1859 are popular and minstrel songs. The bulk of the collection is a variety of song written during the Civil War and are from Union sources. One , however, is a Democratic Party booklet (1864) designed to denigrate the Republican stand on the War and emancipation.
