Biographical / Historical

Paul Victor Hamilton graduated from LMU in 1925 with an AB degree. He then went to Vanderbilt University's College of Medicine for internal medicine. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He then pursued post graduate studies as intern and resident at Cincinnati General Hospital (now University Hospital). There, he taught in the departments of physical diagnosis and internal medicine. He also worked as attending instructor in the cardiac and medical clinics.

Dr. Hamilton served terms as head of the internal medicine departments at the Christ Hospital and Bethesda Hospital but in later years devoted more time at Christ. He also opened a private practice in Kennedy Heights. In 1986, he retired from active practice after 57 years.

He served in World War II as chief of medicine in the 102nd General Hospital during the invasion of Europe. He was discharged with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1946. During the war he served in a London, England hospital as Chief of Medical Services. At the close of the war Dr. Hamilton returned to his Cincinnati practice.
